Transport is to travel from one place to another normally by using certain animals, carriages, bicycles or motor/electric automobiles. Transportation service is when an establishment hires a designated person to transport people, animals or items in a vehicle/carriage to travel from one location to another location. Things can be transported through land, water or air. Transportation was important back in the ancient times and is currently a factor to survive adequately in today's world. As years past by, new forms of transportation are being developed. Here's a brief background on the transportation industry:
Before any form of transportation human beings used to travel to their destinations by foot. As an everyday agenda, humans walked a long distance to eat, drink, and survive. Footprints were created by the humans carrying goods, and items, which helped other humans track each other's route. In 4000 BC donkeys, horses, oxen and camels were used as a traveling alternative for human beings. They used the animals to help them transport loads of goods to their destinations by strapping them to sleds or travois (a frame used to drag loads). In 3000 BC countries in Eurasia introduced the wheel which was made from wood. Instead of riding on the animal's back, the Ancient Near East used the wheel made of wood to build wheeled animal drawn vehicles throughout 4000 BC to 5000 BC. Trails, pathways, and roads were developed in 5000 BC to prevent intersecting through water, being stuck in mud, and remembering routes throughout town. Wheeled animal-drawn vehicles spread across Europe, India, China then most of Eurasia.
In the 15th century, the horse-drawn hackney carriage was introduced. The hackney carriage is attached to a horse and equipped with four wheels. Parliament legalized the ordinance of regulation of horse-drawn carriages in 1654, and the first hackney-carriage license was issued in 1662. People used this vehicle to transport other people, or items to innkeepers, and surrounding places. Horse-drawn for-hires began providing public hackney carriage transportation services, operating in Paris, and London. Innkeepers hired hackney carriage services so merchants and visitors can travel through town to purchase food, water or goods. The hansom cab was designed in England 1834 as an improvement of the hackney carriages. Hansom cab is only equipped with two wheels instead of four. Hansom cab was faster than a hackney carriage because it's lighter from not being able to carry as many passengers/items to different destinations. In the late 1700’s the first automobile was invented in France, and Germany. The automobile evolution started off as a steam powered automobile in 1769; to an internal combustion engine fueled by hydrogen in 1808; the hydrogen fuel cell was created as an energy source for automobiles in 1838; that idea was used to help develop the gasoline powered combustion engine in 1870; then the battery electric automobile took effect in 1859; years later the petrol/gasoline powered automobile was introduced in 1885; and the first automobile to be mass produced on a moving assembly line was in 1908. From walking to riding on horses attached to carriages, to operating a motor/electric vehicle, people will always use transportation to help complete daily task around the world. The transportation idea has been evolving since BC era, and is still in full affect this present day. As years past, variety of new forms of transportation are being invented such as bicycles, trains, boats/ships, motor vehicles, electric vehicles, airplanes, and possibly more.
